Friend - Are Marketers Really This Unoriginal?
"Friend." I never thought I could hold disdain for such a word. But, as I scan through my 26 business mail accounts this morning, seeing subjects like "Friend, could you use an extra $1000?" I find myself muttering things like "You're not my friend, #@$hole," as I press the delete key with increasing pressure.
Marketers have really gotten to be annoying. And it's not even the marketing, it's their complete lack of originality.
Does anybody else feel like internet marketing has become synonymous with the "me too!" messages of AOL yore?

Hi there Friend"
I couldn't agree more. I've become so numb to so many different approaches by marketers.
Take micro-sites. While they're not new, it's like the minute someone invents a new web approach that's actually refreshingly different, thousands jump on the same wagon. Originality isn't happening much these days...in any media. But, then, I guess it's always been this way. Back in the early days of television, ad agencies were threatened to explore the new medium of television by Proctor & Gamble under pain of being fired. Then the agencies suddenly became "the experts."
Same here on new web mkt. techniques. Now agencies are "experts," when in fact, they're just jumping on any wagon someone else invents.
I'm really venting here.
BTW, if this post links to my blog, don't bother going there yet. Brand new. Haven't done much with it.
Thanks for the post. Good to vent.
Steve
